Join us for a full-day virtual training designed to equip the behavioral health and human services workforce with the skills to assess and manage suicide risk. This workshop will cover suicide risk screening, assessment strategies, and safety planning to ensure participants are prepared to help those in crisis.

Instructor/Trainer:
Melissa Witmeier is an accomplished behavioral health consultant, grant writer and Public Health Strategist for Behavioral Health in her home community at the Henderson County Department of Public Health. With over 25 years of experience in the field of suicide prevention, Melissa has dedicated her career to developing and implementing strategies that save lives and support communities.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the scope of the suicide problem and its impact across various settings
- Identify risk factors and warning signs associated with suicide
- Explore protective and resiliency factors that reduce suicide risk
- Learn about evidence-based tools for screening and assessing suicide risk
- Develop strategies for conducting comprehensive suicide risk assessments
- Determine levels of risk using best practice strategies
- Construct collaborative safety plans and integrate them into care pathways
- Implement follow-up strategies to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of safety plans
Target Audience:
Ideal for behavioral health professionals, social workers, counselors, healthcare providers, and other human services personnel.

Participants will receive digital resources, assessment tools, and follow-up materials.
Prerequisites:
No prior experience is required, but attending the QPR Workshop and/or a background in behavioral health or human services is beneficial.
