Join us for a free, evidence-based QPR Suicide Prevention Training on World Suicide Prevention Day. In this 90-minute virtual session, participants will learn how to recognize warning signs, ask the right questions, and refer individuals at risk to appropriate resources.

Instructor/Trainer:
Melissa Witmeier is an accomplished behavioral health consultant, grant writer and Public Health Strategist for Behavioral Health in her home community at the Henderson County Department of Public Health. With over 25 years of experience in the field of suicide prevention, Melissa has dedicated her career to developing and implementing strategies that save lives and support communities.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the risk factors and warning signs of suicide
- Understand the myths and facts of suicide as a public health concern
- Learn direct and indirect cues of someone at risk
- Develop skills in asking about suicide
- Practice techniques to persuade someone to seek help
- Identify how to refer and support individuals to resources
- Gain confidence in responding to someone at risk of suicide
- Learn about the QPR approach: Question, Persuade, Refer
