Tanya Hilber, PsyD

Dr. Tanya Hilber is a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive experience in clinical practice, leadership, and community-based mental health initiatives. She earned her Doctorate and Masters in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, California School of Professional Psychology, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Carroll University in Wisconsin. Her doctoral research focused on midlife transitions among women in the baby boomer cohort, reflecting a longstanding interest in developmental transitions and psychological resilience across the lifespan.

Dr. Hilber is the founder and owner of Hilber Psychological Services, a group private practice in San Diego dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based mental health care. Under her leadership, the practice serves children, adolescents, and adults, with clinical expertise spanning ADHD, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum conditions, depression, trauma, parenting challenges, life stressors, and perinatal mental health. Dr. Hilber is a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C) and brings a strong clinical and systems-based perspective to care delivery.

In addition to her private practice work, Dr. Hilber has played a significant role in expanding access to neurofeedback services. She co-founded the San Diego Center for Neurofeedback (SDCNF) in 2013 alongside Dr. Christiana Silva. The center was established to provide non-medication-based neurofeedback treatment to support physiological self-regulation, symptom reduction, and improved functioning. SDCNF developed specialized programming for children and adolescents experiencing trauma, ADHD, anxiety, behavioral challenges, and autism spectrum disorders.

In 2022, SDCNF merged with the San Diego Center for Counseling to form San Diego Therapy Center, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Dr. Hilber currently serves as Executive Director of Neurofeedback, with a focus on increasing equitable access to neurofeedback and mental health services for underserved communities, regardless of socioeconomic status or access barriers.

Dr. Hilber also serves as Vice President of the Board for San Diego Therapy Center. The organization’s mission is to provide low- to no-cost therapeutic services to children and families impacted by trauma, with a long-term goal of interrupting cycles of abuse and supporting sustainable healing through accessible, high-quality mental health care.

Through her clinical work, leadership roles, and nonprofit engagement, Dr. Hilber remains committed to advancing ethical practice, clinical excellence, and expanded access to mental health services across the San Diego community.
