Dr. Christiana Silva
As Dr. Christiana Silva steps down from her leadership role to pursue new opportunities, we celebrate the vision, compassion, and dedication that helped shape San Diego Therapy Center. This next chapter is an opportunity to thank her and honor the community of care she built. In 2010, Christiana Silva, PhD BCN founded the nonprofit San Diego Center for Counseling with a bold and compassionate vision:

A vision that grew into a community of care.
A world without the cycle of abuse and victimization and cruelty to children with quality mental health care access for everyone.
That vision became a mission that has guided SDTC ever since:
Our Mission
San Diego Therapy Center’s mission is to improve the life circumstances of victims of trauma, especially children and their families, and stop the cycle of abuse and victimization, through providing specialized, trauma-informed counseling and neurofeedback services in a safe and caring environment at low-cost in order to increase mental health care access for the underserved and disenfranchised.

A vision that kept growing
From the very beginning, Dr. Silva knew healing happens best when care meets people where they are. That same year, she began a community partnership with the San Diego Family Justice Center and Your Safe Place, bringing trauma recovery services directly to children and adults who had experienced abuse and trauma. That partnership continues today.
In 2022, her vision took its next step. San Diego Center for Counseling merged with the San Diego Center for Neurofeedback to become San Diego Therapy Center. The name changed, but the vision and mission did not.
Where that vision lives today
San Diego Therapy Center specializes in trauma recovery services for children and adults who have experienced trauma, using trauma-informed, evidence-based treatments. Counseling and neurofeedback work side by side to serve children, youth, adults, veterans, and families across San Diego County.
As a community partner of the San Diego Family Justice Center and Your Safe Place, SDTC provides services on-site at Your Safe Place, in a setting built around safety and support. We also serve clients at three other locations around San Diego County, so quality care is within reach for more families.
Because of Dr. Silva’s courage and leadership, countless people have found a safe place to heal and a team that believes in them. The foundation she built continues to guide our work and inspire our team each day.
