Our Nonprofit Model

How San Diego Therapy Center Serves Our Community

San Diego Therapy Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN available upon request). Unlike for-profit mental health practices, every dollar we receive goes directly toward our charitable mission: ensuring trauma survivors have access to quality care.

Our Commitment to Access

In 2024 alone, we provided:

  • $90,500 in completely free therapy and neurofeedback sessions
  • $79,100 in low-cost sessions for families in need
  • Training for 13+ graduate students in trauma-informed care
  • Partnerships with two local school districts to reach underserved students

Financial Transparency

As a nonprofit, we are committed to transparency:

  • View our Form 990 tax returns
  • Read our annual reports
  • All financial information available upon request

Our Non-Profit vs For-Profit Practices

Unlike commercial mental health providers, San Diego Therapy Center:

  • Never turns away clients due to inability to pay
  • Reinvests all surplus into expanding services
  • Provides free training to develop the next generation of trauma-informed therapists
  • Partners with community organizations to reach the most vulnerable populations
  • Operates under the oversight of an independent Board of Directors

How Our Sustainable Model Works

We use a mission-driven financial model that allows us to serve everyone:

  • Sliding Scale Fees: We assess each family’s financial situation and adjust fees accordingly
  • Insurance Partnerships: We accept most commercial insurances. These reimbursements fund our charitable care programs
  • Grant Funding: We actively pursue grants to expand free services
  • Community Donations: 100% of donations go directly to client services and training programs
  • Pro Bono Care: Our therapists donate their time to serve those most in need

Every person who pays through insurance helps make free care possible for someone who cannot afford treatment.
