Hi ! My name is Alexandra, and I am a fluent bilingual graduate student in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University completing my clinical practicum. I believe therapy is a collaborative process where clients should feel heard, respected, and comfortable being themselves.

My approach is primarily person-centered, and trauma-informed while incorporating family systems and sociocultural perspectives. I strive to create a safe, warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their experiences, recognize their strengths and work toward meaningful change. I recognize that family relationships, culture, identity, and life experiences can all shape how we understand ourselves and navigate life challenges.

As someone with a Mexican American background, I value concepts such as familismo, community, strong relationships, and the importance of family. These values have shaped my appreciation for the ways cultural identity, family dynamics, and community support can influence an individual’s well-being. At the same time, I recognize that every client’s cultural experience is unique, and I strive to approach each person with cultural humility, curiosity, and respect.

Through my professional experience working in pediatric behavioral health and psychiatric settings, I have had the opportunity to support children and adolescents experiencing a range of emotional and behavioral challenges along with family members who are exposed to the difficulties behind these situations. These experiences have strengthened my interest in working with individuals and families navigating anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem challenges and trauma.

My goal is to meet each client where they are and provide compassionate, culturally responsive support that respects their unique experiences, values, and strengths. Beginning therapy can feel intimidating, and reaching out for support can be a significant first step. My hope is to make that process feel as comfortable, collaborative and supportive as possible. I believe that meaningful change can begin when clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with my dog, going on walks, reading on my kindle, going to coffee shops/bookstores, coloring and spending quality time with my loved ones!
