Hello! I’m Mayra, a bilingual Latina therapist (APCC and AMFT), fluent in English and Spanish. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Psychology from Boston University. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my volunteer work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as my own personal journey with therapy to navigate life’s challenges. These experiences ignited my passion for supporting others through their own healing and growth. My approach is rooted in empowerment, helping individuals build the emotional, psychological, and cognitive skills to face life’s complexities and create the future they envision. I believe in meeting clients where they are and tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Mindfulness, alongside Strength-Based and Solution-Focused methods. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples, addressing a wide range of issues such as trauma, domestic violence, abuse, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, self-esteem, women’s issues, stress, and life transitions. I am committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive space for clients of all identities.Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading, re-watching 90s and 00s TV shows and movies, expressing myself through creative arts (painting, drawing, crafting), and spending quality time with my family—especially my nephews, nieces, and godchildren. I also love taking day trips with friends and indulging in outdoor activities, though I’m more “outsidey” than “outdoorsy.”
