Hi! I’m Sam Prado (she/her/ella), a bilingual associate therapist dedicated to providing culturally responsive and trauma-informed care to children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I was born in Mexico City and moved to Texas as a teenager, which shaped my understanding of identity development, acculturation, the strength required to navigate significant life transitions, and the importance of advocacy and support in overcoming systemic barriers.

I obtained my Master’s in Counseling from the University of San Diego, where I received dual training in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. I’ve supported diverse clients, communities, and needs, including immigrant, first-generation, and Spanish-speaking individuals; LGBTQ+ members; students with disabilities; veteran families; and individuals exploring their identity, interpersonal relationships, and intergenerational dynamics. My approach is strengths-based, developmentally appropriate, and grounded in cultural humility.

I draw from CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and narrative practices to meet each client’s unique needs. My experience as a school counselor and youth athletic coach for nearly a decade has also shaped my relational and goal-oriented style. I am often part of interdisciplinary teams, so my approach in the counseling space is highly collaborative. My goal is to help clients explore how their values, environment, and relationships impact their mental health and sense of self in a safe space where they feel seen, empowered, and supported.

I offer therapy in both English and Spanish and am committed to increasing equitable access to mental healthcare for underserved communities.

Outside of SDTC, I enjoy being active, coaching the not-so-known sport of rowing, and exploring new places and recipes. I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is everyone’s favorite fact about me, and I am always happy to share pictures!
