Join us for a free, evidence-based QPR Suicide Prevention Training. In this 90-minute In Person session, participants will learn how to recognize warning signs, ask the right questions, and refer individuals at risk to appropriate resources.

Instructor/Trainer:

Kelsey Witmeier, MPH, is a dedicated public health professional and PhD candidate at LSU Health in New Orleans. With over a decade of experience in suicide prevention, Kelsey was one of the first youth trainers certified by the QPR Institute. Her academic and research pursuits focus on the intersection of suicide prevention and gun violence, addressing critical public health challenges. Kelsey’s unique combination of practical teaching experience and research expertise makes her a valuable asset in training individuals and communities to recognize and respond to suicide risk.

Mayra Quezada is a certified QPR Trainer and is receiving her MA in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. She has over six years of experience working with trauma survivors, having started as a volunteer supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and is currently completing a trauma-informed MFT/PCC internship at San Diego Therapy Center, where she has gained additional experience in direct counseling and other mental health services provided to clients of diverse backgrounds. As an Oceanside local, she is highly dedicated to giving back to the community through advocacy of and training in the importance of understanding risk and growing awareness of suicide.
